A guitar, a picture & shutter are from the Guitar Player & The Little Street. A large picture to ground the composition - An element Johannes Vermeer used. A checkered floor with beautiful light pouring in - while the floor keeps them locked in time, the light carves out a beautiful moment. A pitcher, a letter, a red hat, clothe draped table & curtain were elements used in the Milk Maid, Girl with a Red Hat & The letter. The table & large curtain were used to create a space for the subjects - being clear you are an outsider looking in. Vermeer and The Girl with a Pearl Earring, who are sharing a moment, suddenly becomes aware there is a viewer.
…I began to dig around in Bach’s life. I wanted to learn about him, who he was… his private life mostly. What drove him, who loved him. I watched endless documentaries on him and his life. I read everything I could find, I listened to his works over and over…I discovered I was head over heals in love and so inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach’s life, I couldn’t wait to finish the piece.
A photographic love story piece between Leonardo da Vinci and The Mona Lisa. Through my research I had wondered if he had actually been in love with her, all the details pointed to a possible yes. For this piece and because Leonardo had accomplished so much, I created a background the scene depicting what seemed to be the background in the original Mona Lisa painting. I wanted it to be as close a possible, as it seemed as though this was one of his most treasured creations. If you look closely you can see elements of his life such as the Vitruvian Man and smaller diagrams from his note books.
“Miss Maple” is a character-based sculptural encounter born from artist Tracy Sydor's childhood experience of a 1st grade teacher who selflessly stepped forward as a protective presence. The memory of this strong woman has expanded into a figure of fierce unquestioning protection and martyrdom within the artist's personal mythology. The actualization of Sydor's vision through this artwork honors this protector and gifts the image of “Miss Maple” to anyone who may need her. A mix of performance engagement, installation and displayed ritual costume, “Miss Maple” offers us an opportunity to consider the blending of visual art forms and to reflect on our own personal mythologies. “ Cultural Services & BRIDGE Exhibitions
